Show Low Getaway

Last month during spring break we went up to Show Low for a little getaway. We wanted to check out a $30 hotel that we found. Just our luck we picked one of the coldest weeks in weeks. It snowed the first night we were there and was pretty cold the rest of the time. We spent a lot of time driving around and I think we found every possible park in about a 100-mile radius.

At the Salt River...

The Parks...

Our little hotel room. Tad one bed, Derek & I on the other, Kevin and Paige on the floor, Darci in her crib. It was cramped, but cheap and fun.

Renaissance Festival

OK, I'm pretty behind here, but last month, on the 19th we went to the Renaissance Festival. It was a short trip and we drove all the way home the same day so it was a long day. It was that night that Kevin was stung by the scorpion. Seems like ages ago.

It was really a lot of fun. I had NO idea how HUGE it was. You can see some of the village from the road, but it really doesn't give you any idea how BIG it is once you get inside. It really is HUGE. It took us nearly an hour just to get to the parking lot because traffic was backed up for miles through Gold Canyon. I wasn't anticipating that either. So next year, we will go earlier, take more money, and spend all day to stay for the final jousting event.

There were a TON of people there too.

All the buildings were pretty cool.

Kevin and Darci playing with a goose.

A really big dragon tube slide. Derek and Paige went down this. I probably would've been too scared if they let adults do it!

All the staff were really into their characters so that was a lot of fun.

Petting Zoo

My sister Jodi, her husband, Jared, their kids and my mom were there with us. Jared was Mr. Moneybags, and anytime he went over to a booth with his money, all the kids would run over there with him. Lucky for Derek, he got to do a lot of things thanks to Jared.

This was the jousting. It was fun. I didn't realize they don't actually finish the tournament until the end of the day. The events during the day lead up to the final event but it was too late in the day for us to stay for this time.
