Piggy tails and rooster hair

So Darci has crazy hair everyday. Some days she looks like Kevin, who also has crazy hair that does not stay down. Those are our rooster days. Other days, I put it up in piggy tails to match Paige. It's so fun being able to fix her hair when she's this young. Paige was well over a year before I could get piggy tails in her hair. Tad thinks we should shave it again to see if it grows in better, and sometimes it is really tempting.

Darci has also noticed her own hair. She'll reach up and grab it and hold on to it with her death grip because she still doesn't quite know how to let go. She's happy in this picture, but she wont be once she starts moving her hand too much and pulling on her hair. Oh, and Darci giggled tonight for the first time during her bath. It was way cute.

As a side note, I don't know if anyone has noticed my sidebar and the "Kiva" post there. It's a great charity that helps struggling people in poorer countries get loans for their businesses or whatever they need. You can donate money towards their loan and they slowly pay you back. We've made a few loans and they've all been paid back within about 6 months. Even if they don't get paid back, I figure that they could use the money so much more than we do. You have to loan a minimum of $25. Check it out. www.kiva.org

How wierd is this!

So I was at work yesterday and I looked out the window and saw a mountain and I thought to myself, wow, that's a really cool view of Camelback Mountain... After a few minutes, yes it did take me a few minutes, I realized that there was no way that was Camelback Mountain! I'm not in Arizona anymore! I think I need to get some sleep instead of staying up so late reading the Twilight books!

On another thought... it's amazing how wherever you are, you meet people that look like other people you knew somewhere else. They say everyone on this planet has a twin somewhere, but I think we have several twins, probably octuplets. It's just amazing to see how similar we all are even when we are all so different.

I'm glad to be back at work... I really missed it. This hospital is great... a little backwards in some ways (paper charting, overhead paging, shared rooms, 8-bed wards, and other things), but it is very modern when it comes to medical technology and procedures. I trained in the mother-baby unit yesterday and it was so fun to see all the little babies, but as a nurse you don't really get to enjoy them, you're so busy with everything else. There was a young couple there, probably late teens, that just had a baby. The father was so excited and loved that baby so much and was so sweet to the mother. Now I don't know what kind of life that baby will have, what kind of struggles it will go through, or if the parents will stay together, or what, but it entered the world so loved. For a brief moment in time, the world was a happy place.

Kiddo Updates

So there are a few updates on the kids. I took Kevin and Paige in for their 3 yr appointments early just to establish care here. Paige is 26lbs (10th percentile) and Kevin is 29lbs (25th-50th percentile). We're working on potty training (again) with Kevin. I decided last Monday that he would no longer wear diapers during the day and I tell you what, he has done GREAT! He's only had one #1 accident (I know since I'm posting this he'll probably have more). #2 is another story. He decided he does not want to go poop on the toilet. So I'm trying to think of a good way to bribe him. Any suggestions?

Darci is doing great, I had to take a picture of her sleeping today. Sorry its blurry, but I took it quick not wanting to wake her up. If I put my arm on her chest, she wraps her hands around it, so I thought I would give her a little stuffed animal to hold while she sleeps. I'm trying to get her to sleep in her crib and not the swing, so I thought it would help her. She's so cute!

Easter

Happy Easter everyone.... If you haven't seen this, here is a good talk from Elder Holland about Jesus and the real reason for Easter. Click on this link.

For Easter this year, I took the kids to an Easter Egg hunt at a nearby library in the Village of Corrales. As we left our house it was sprinkling, but I was hoping it would clear up. Wrong! As we were waiting for them to start the hunt, we had to take cover by the library front porch (it's more a house than a building). Then when they started the hunt, we ran out there and it really started coming down. I know we have an umbrella somewhere in our apartment, but I didn't even think to bring it. Darci and I were getting wet, but she slept most of the time beneath her blanket. The kids really had fun running around in the rain. And yes, it was cold!

My little sweet pea

Time is flying! Darci is 3 months old today. She's such a sweetheart! Especially with the move it's been such a blessing that she's been as good a baby as she is. And she just makes my heart melt!!

Snow, baseball and American Idol

Last weekend it snowed here in Albuquerque and so of course we had to go play!

Here the kids are getting ready. Next winter for sure we'll have to break out and buy good snow clothes and boots for everyone.

This was the drive to the mountain. It takes about 25 minutes to get to the ski area from where we live.

We didn't even go up to the top. This is at a picnic area near the bottom of the mountain and you can see how much snow was there. It was really cold!

This is the drive back home. And the Albuquerque Temple with the snow in the background. This is our side of the mountain. We don't get as much snow as the other side.

We went to this baseball game later in the day. Snow in the morning, baseball in the afternoon.

Well if American Idol is still running in 2025, here are the future finalists.....

Big Fat Bull

So tonight Derek asked me why my butt was so big... He said, "Why is your butt so big? Why is it so big like a big fat bull?" Nice.
