Painting

For the past week or so we have been painting the rental house that we are going to be moving into.  I absolutely HATE painting.  If we ever move again and decide to paint, it will be well worth the money to pay someone to paint for us.  Not to mention the price of paint has gone up a TON since the last time we painted.  Even the generic Walmart paint is not cheap anymore.

While we paint, the kids have had fun playing outside making forts.

The garden is growing good now.  It seems like in the last week things have just shot up.  My squash plant was tiny 2 weeks ago and I peeked in it today and found this cute little yellow squash!  I have a few small zucchini and small green tomatoes.  I also have cilantro, sage and mint growing good.  I have about 16 small okra plants and bean bushes coming up too.  Hopefully they will all continue to grow.

Middle of May

Paige lost her first tooth the other day.  It's been loose for a while, and it developed an abcess underneath it, so I took her in to have it pulled.  She was so brave, she got 3 shots and didn't even flinch.  She's been so proud of her smile ever since!  She left the tooth fairy a nice little note under her pillow and even gave her one of her rings.  So sweet!

I had my first blood transfusion last week - at least I think it was my first.  My h/h was 7.4/24.8, which was pretty low.  Almost dangerously low.  The scary thing is how low it probably was before because for 3 or 4 days before getting my labs drawn I had been taking iron and eating iron-rich foods, so I wouldn't be surprised if my hemoglobin was below 7 for a while.  I was at work when my doctor called me so after my shift, I checked into the ICU for a few hours.  Not to give too much information, but I have terrible periods and that is the reason my levels were so low, I was just bleeding too much.  I was pretty tired for a few weeks and when several people at work told me I looked more pale than usual, I thought I should have my blood levels tested.  Good thing I did.  The biggest change I noticed after the transfusion was that the throbbing that I had in my head constantly over the past month went away!  So happy about that!

It is baseball season again.  You have to admit, they play against a beautiful backdrop.  Kind of reminds me of Albuquerque.  Paige and Kevin are on coach-pitch this year with their cousin Caroline.  Derek is in the pee-wees.

The garden is beginning to grow pretty good.  Here is an overview.

These are my okra plants coming up.  I still need to thin them out.  Can't wait!

 Bush beans and zucchini

Peter pan squash and I think some parsley might be coming up.

 Mint and yellow squash

These are remnants from last year, not sure what they are.  I'm thinking they are some type of pepper and maybe swiss chard?

Town Council Election

It's official, I will be turning in my petition on Monday for Thatcher Town Council! I am excited and will be updating my facebook status and blog from time to time with information. I plan to go door-to-door over the next few months to meet everyone I can. You can message me or call me (792-2010) at anytime to voice any concerns about the town, I'd like to get as much feedback as I can from everyone.

The main thing right now is that everyone needs to register to vote! Follow the link below, it is simple and only takes a few seconds. You can even request a mail in ballot.

The primary election is AUG 28TH. Mark this down! You will vote at the town hall or through the mail in ballot. Again, call me with any questions!

I finally finished my Bachelor's degree with a BSN in nursing from Western Governor's University.  It was a crazy last couple of months trying to finish up and am so glad to be done!  I am planning on starting my Masters in Nursing Leadership and Management in a month or so.
